April was first declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential proclamation in 1983. Since then, April has been a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse. Our request is twofold: to raise public awareness concerning child abuse prevention and to raise money to help reduce risk to children. Frederick County Department of Social Services (FCDSS) is partnering with the Maryland Association of Social Service Board (MASSB) for its annual 5 K CRIB CRAWL in April 2015. Money raised from the CRIB CRAWL will be used to assist in the purchase of cribs/beds, medication lock boxes, and child and household safety items that will help to reduce the risk to children in Frederick County.
Packet pickup and registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The pre-race warm-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Bandshell. The first 100 people to register will receive a free T-Shirt. Entry fees are $20 by March 27th and $25 the day of the event. To learn more about our mission please visit www.cribcrawl.com.
