The Frederick Steeplechasers love to run. But our mission, as a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, goes beyond just running. We aim to promote running for fitness, friendship and athletic development, in support of our members and the Frederick community. To that end, we offer the following services to support the running community in Frederick and surrounding areas:
Race Support
Hosting a local race in Frederick? The Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club has decades of experience providing timing, course marking, and promotion services to race directors in the local Frederick community. Our services are a low-cost alternative for small (less than 500 finishers) races.

We also include community races on our events calendar. Race directors of area races are encouraged to submit their events to be posted directly via this site. Event listings are offered as a free community service.

Memorial Scholarship
The FSRC Memorial Scholarship is dedicated in loving memory to Rick O’Donnell and Larry Key, beloved Steeplechasers. Proceeds from the annual Rick’s Run, as well as donations, are collected for the scholarship, which is awarded to Frederick-area high school seniors who, like Rick and Larry, have made a difference in the running community.

Runner-Friendly Community
Did you know Frederick was designated an RRCA Runner-Friendly Community? Runner-friendly businesses are engaged with the running community, and may also offer additional support to area runners such as water and bathrooms during training runs, discounts to club members, parking options, and more.

Lincoln Panthers Running Club
The Lincoln Panthers running club is a free after-school running club program hosted at Lincoln Elementary school for 2-5th graders. The Panthers club was started in 2012 as a joint project with the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, and the Steeplechasers were honored to join the community in helping to get a small track funded and built at the school in support of the program. The Panthers continue to meet twice weekly for Fall and Spring running seasons, providing students at Lincoln Elementary with overall fitness and nutrition instruction in a fun, supportive and safe environment. If you’d like to get involved with the Panthers, contact lincoln-panthers@sandbox.steeplechasers.org.
Friends of the Steeplechasers
There are some community businesses that have gone above and beyond in supporting the club and our membership, providing discounts, sponsoring races, hosting events, and more.
